Another weekend comes to a close

So, it’s Sunday night and

  • Friday’s “night at the theater” turned out to be better than I thought it would be
  • Vegging on Saturday ended up to be a lot of Vice City action
  • Dinner with an old college suitemate was pretty good
  • I finally did some of the laundry I’ve been putting off for two or three weeks now
  • I didn’t see the Simpsons, and I know I’ll probably get some flack for it at work

Hoffman Estates High School’s opening night for their musical production of Les Miserables was entertaining. Having seen some more mature theater while at college, I was expecting the night to be rather mediocre, but to my surprise, it was rather enjoyable. The performances by the high school students were mostly very good. There were some lackluster performances, but that was to be expected. Going out to dinner with the group with whom I saw the show turned out to be quite enjoyable, as well.

Saturday started early with an old friend buzzing at the door. After finally realizing that there actually was someone at my door and letting him in, I quickly went back to bed, where I remained for another hour or two. When I finally awoke, Scott had called and came over. We watched most of Final Fantasy, then went on to have lunch at TGI Friday’s, after which we returned to the apartment for some visual entertainment.

For a good four or five hours, Van Wilder and Buy the Cow were watched, and a lot of Vice City was played. The easter eggs in VW were quite good, especially since we had the unrated version.

Sunday started off with a shower. Then I did the dishes and cleaned up in the kitchen a little and put in a load of laundry. When Chris finally woke up, I made some good old Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. Then we watched a couple hours of MTV, something we hadn’t done in quite some time. We eventually got to doing some things we needed to do; Chris did some grading and I ironed some clothes.

Dinner with Rich was pretty good. He’s just as I remembered: slightly goofy, having interesting insight, but not knowing when to quit with some things. I know I’m no political science buff, so I refrain from having too strong of an opinion about the whole Iraq thing. Chris and Rich, however, butted heads a little, but all was well in the end.
