West Wing is the best

Well, I must say, if this ever happened in real life, I might just crap myself. A spoiler follows.

Quickie: Almost Salinas

by Mark on May.13, 2003, under entertainment

Almost Salinas is an independent film written and directed by Terry Green, starring John Mahoney. Its unimpressive numbers from the opening weekend were no big surprise; I don’t recall very many indie flicks hitting it big in recent years. I’ll make this quick because I’m tired after seeing the 7:50 show tonight. Basically, I thought the film was interesting, but it won’t make the big box office numbers to stay in theaters for very long.

I have a reservation for 5:00

by Mark on May.12, 2003, under life story

So, yesterday was Mother’s Day. I got my mom a chocolate gift basket-type deal from Hersheys.com. Pretty good chocolate, which included a one pound bar of chocolate with a custom message hand-written on it. Way early in the morning we went to the Mother’s Day brunch at Chandler’s for Chris’s family. That was pretty good, with a hell of a lot of food. My only problem was the one and a half hour maximum seating time, which, thankfully, was loosely enforced. Also, the waffles were a little chewy, rather than light and fluffy.

Ok, forget X-2

by Mark on May.05, 2003, under work

Ok, so I’ve forgotten enough about X-2 that I’m not going to write much more, unless a question/discussion is sparked that reminds me of what I saw. Of course, since others read this, but don’t usually comment, I don’t see my memory being triggered any time soon.

X-2 comments

by Mark on May.03, 2003, under entertainment

So, I just got back from one of the 11pm showings of X-2 at AMC. All I have to say is that it was pretty good, although some would argue that it wasn’t “pure.” Some people just have to realize that the comics, the cartoons, the video games, and the movies are all different forks based on the same characters. Some spoilers follow, so beware.

To old friends

by Mark on May.01, 2003, under life story

I guess somebody out there is reading this thing. I just got an e-mail from an old friend at the e-mail address I setup for this blog. I haven’t talked to her very much in the past five years, but I did get a chance to visit with her once while I was still in school at IWU. Anyways, she’s graduating from U of I on May 18th and she’s invited Chris and I down to celebrate her accomplishment.
