Well, it was bound to happen one of these days. According to this article, a woman by the name of Sarah Seabury Ward was one of the 261 people being sued by the RIAA. Unfortunately, the RIAA made a huge mistake and has had to withdraw its lawsuit agains Ward. She was targeted as a supposed Kazaa user. Unfortunately for the RIAA, she’s a Mac user (Kazaa has no Mac client), 66 years old, and in no way downloaded I’m a Thug by Trick Daddy. Don’t you just love the idiocy of the RIAA? I thought they went too far suing their own customers, and here they go again proving me wrong by suing someone who doesn’t even use Kazaa or any P2P client!
Well, it’s been a few days since my last post. I’ve been busy with work and stuff, so I haven’t had the chance to post. Not much has been happening. I’ve been working on a web service for viewing, searching, and editing our athletics schedule (viewing and searching are fine, but editing is not working so well). I also had a meeting yesterday with the other people in the district with my job. I’m in a long waiting game now to hear about when PHS can go ahead and start trying either upgrading our FrontPage Server Extensions to 2002 or upgrading our server to Windows Server 2003. That’s OK, because I’ve got plenty to do for now. Anyways, it’s early and I’m still tired. Time to read more news online.
I don’t know how long this will be open to the public, but Ars has their Soap Box forum open right now. There is a post titled Remind me why we have a gun "problem" in the USA?, and I think it is quite interesting. What russ-iha, the poster, is showing here are some statistics that defy the current thought that we have a gun problem in the USA.

I just posted this on the forum:
I saw a link to an AnandTech.com article on /. about the new BTX form factor, a new form factor to replace the current ATX standard. It looks promising. The ideas behind the new form factor are to create better cooling and quiet down PCs at the same time. Check out the thermal image overlayed on a reference board layout. The cooling looks like it would be much more efficient than the current ATX cooling systems.
Wiggen has been hired as part of the PHS custodial staff. The rest of the staff still seems like a good bunch of guys to me, but I sure as hell cannot get past Wiggen’s behavior. We’ll have to see what happens.
Well, just after 14 hours of being internet-free at the apartment, Comcast finally got our cable connected. It’s about damn time. And it really pisses me off that I had to read a condescending tech support e-mail from these bastards when I asked when I should expect to see our cable connection return. Apparently, the support tech that received my question couldn’t put two and two together and realize that I was asking when I would have my cable service restored after a garbage truck took out seven power poles on Schaumburg Road.

So, I woke up this morning to silence. No, I didn’t miss my alarm. No, I didn’t oversleep. Actually, I woke up about 15 minutes before my alarm. My fan was off, the lights were off, and the hum of my computer fans weren’t filling the apartment with the calming white noise that I’m used to. On my morning trip to the bathroom, I try to flip the light switch, but no lights. I try again, and still no lights. In darkness, my eyes open. I look down the hall to the office and I finally notice that the hum isn’t present. We’ve definitely lost power.
