Am I allowed to say I’m brown?

The world has gone mad! I cannot believe the utter stupidity of the people on this planet. From a slashdot post:
SlashChick writes “In an interesting twist on political correctness, LA County has banned the use of the terms ‘Master/Slave’ (commonly used to denote hard drive arrangements.) According to Snopes.com, ’someone within the County bureaucracy… had taken offense at “master/slave” references and complained to the board.’ LA County now requires that vendors working with the county remove all ‘master/slave’ references. Incredible. Read the full story.
Can you believe this crap? This is just utterly ridiculous! Who would even think to outlaw terminology that most effectively describes a relationship between two objects? What happens when so many people are upset by the word “depression” that even the mere utterance of it and related words will be outlawed? We will instead have to refer to depression as a series of feelings that are not good or a mood that is not good. Oh wait, maybe someone will object to the use of anything negative. How will we refer to it then? You get the point. Or do you? The first comment that is visible under my threshold asks the following:
Hasn’t this obsession with sanitizing speech become a total farce? What’s next? Will we not be able to have male and female ends on our 1/4″ audio cable for fear of offending the transgendered? How the hell am I supposed to shop for wires now?
Indeed, when will it ever stop? Discuss in the forum.
