So, this is a little later than “breaking news” should be, but it looks like they caught Saddam today. It’s about damned time they did. Unfortunately, the Bush speech writing team writes like a bunch of 9th graders with metaphor after metaphor in his speech to the American people.Read more in the forum.

It’s just a few hours late (I again had internet troubles), but I just posted this in the forum:
Surprise, surprise! We had yet Another Power Outage tonight
This time, we were just watching television before going to the HEHS Madrigal Dinner, and then all of a sudden the power goes out. My first instinct is to just sit and wait, of course, hoping the power will return right away. It didn’t. So, next stop was the front door to see if the entryway lights were out. If they were, then it wasn’t just our apartment that tripped circuit breakers.
What do you know, but the power is out in the hallway, too. As I stand in the doorway, I hear a loud buzzing noise. It happened to coincide with the door lamp on the apartment building across the street being lit. When the lamp would flicker, so would the sound, until both died. Luckily for them, it was just a short while. As Chris and I try to find my mini Mag Lite, we gave up and decided to hang out at her parents’ house for a little while. We had to drop off a few things, anyways, so it wasn’t a bad idea. So, it was off to the future-in-laws’ house for us, then off to the Madrigal Dinner, which was pretty good yet again
There was one good thing about this power outage: I was glad I bought webspace at GeekHosting.com. This was especially good since I just upgraded from the Mini Geek to the Mega Geek. Yay affordable web hosting!
So, I’m sitting at my desk working on the PHS site, and I get an IM. James told me that he noticed the YesMen link on my website and told me he went to their show last Saturday. Apparently, a friend of a friend of his played in the band that opened for the YesMen. Anyways, I just thought that was pretty cool. We’ll have to go to a show together sometime.
Fun night was pretty good. Some of Chris’s co-workers, and a few of their significant others, came by tonight because she didn’t have grad school. There were a few familiar faces, and a few new ones. Everyone seemed to have a good time. We played Cranium and just had an overall good time. It’s not as awkward meeting with Chris’s co-workers any more. Now that she’s a second year teacher and there are more new faces for other people to learn than for me, I feel more comfortable. Now I’m just wondering how often we will be having fun night when we move to the new house. Not that it’s a bad thing, just that we’ll actually have space to entertain guests there.
I was rudely awoken this morning around 5am by the non-stop screaming and crying to the baby upstairs. Let me tell you, this was one hell of an unpleasantry. For almost an hour and a half, this baby just wouldn’t stop. And from hearing the lack of footsteps above me, it didn’t look like its parents were going to bother trying to stop the screaming. There were occaisional lulls in the crying, but I think that was just so the baby could catch its breath.
On the one hand, I feel bad for the couple upstairs. But on the other, I feel the couple should at least make an effort to not disturb their neighbors in the apartment building. And this is on top of the fact that they are constantly throwing garbage off of their balcony/patio and onto the back yard of the building, where it is blown around all over the place. There was one time we found a dirty diaper underneath their balcony, next to a bag of garbage that had blown open! Absolutely disgusting.
I was browsing through the various hits I got on Google for AIM spam, and I came across this post at Mike Cohen’s Weblog. Even though I’m sure to offend someone, I took the test and posted my results. Read on below to find out what sort of threat I am to the Bush administration.

So, I got yet another unwanted AIM message from someone trying to advertise a pr0n website while I was away. I did what I usually do with these, which is warn the user, then block the user. Of course, this only blocks that username, and with a username like Toby Denson 2149, I’m sure it was a randomly generated name, as I’ve also blocked Toby Nance 1185. There’s nothing to stop Toby Denson 2150 or 2148 from messaging me with another pr0n website.
