Monthly Archive for December, 2003
Yesterday I had some problems with the forum, including the accidental pruning of the forum, which deleted a lot of messages I had not intended on deleting. So, I restored the forum from a backup that was current up to Sunday, when I moved the forum to the new host. So, you may have posted something this week, and it’s probably gone. Sorry. Everything should be OK now. I figured out what I did wrong, and I don’t forsee too many more problems in the coming days.
Well, I’m playing around with MovableType today, and I finally discovered that there is documentation for template tags in the MT Manual. I’ve been publishing with MT for almost four months now, and I am only now just finding these tags that make it so easy to customize MT. For example, I just discovered how to use the <$MTInclude$> tag to include modules, or code snippets, into pages. Now, instead of editing six different templates to adjust and test the same simple changes, I can change it in one place, the module, and just rebuild the pages. You don’t even know how much of a relief that is (unless, of course, you’ve worked with MT before ;-). I’ll play some more tomorrow, but for now it’s sleepy time.
So, FOX’s new reality show The Simple Life is about halfway through the first episode, and the two socialites from California just got to Altus, Arkansas. Actually, according to the timer, they’ve been in town and off the plane for about 45 minutes, including their drive out to the farm. I must say, this has been a pretty entertaining show so far. I just saw Nicole Richie say, “I knew we were going to live in a sh**hole, but I didn’t know we were going to be on the porch with a fu**ing well!” Too funny. Oh, it’s back on, after a funny Sprint commercial with a frat saying the same lines from the sorority commercial.

Well, it’s been almost two days, and the site seems to still be running. That’s good. It took a little while for the DNS entries to propagate through the internet, but it was still faster than I had expected. By noon yesterday, it seemed like everyone was able to see the new home of the site. Now, all I have to do is get used to the new place, play around with cPanel X, and see what other good things I can add to the site.
I might be breaking off the wedding blog entries into a blog of their own. So, if the Wedding category disappears from the Categories menu on the left of the page, check the Menu near the top of the page. There may be a new blog there.
Well, with my network troubles over the weekend, I’ve moved my website to a new host. Now, instead of my hosting my own site at home, I’m hosting at GeekHosting.com. With the move last night, a few posts may have gone missing. If this is the case for one of your posts, sorry. You’re just going to have to re-post.
I hope the move will serve to make a more reliable website, since it shouldn’t necessarily go down when my internet/power goes down. If it proves to be good, and you want to open your own site, check the link below.
