Alias: surprisingly good

by Mark on Jan.15, 2004, under general

So, I borrowed Michelle’s Season One DVDs of Alias, and I am finally sitting down to watch them recently. I had hesitated to wach the show before, mostly because I was watching the Bears lose games, watching The Simpsons, or watching tapes of shows I had recorded earlier that week.

Melissa and I have gotten through the first four episodes of the first season. Last night, when Chris got home from the Musical Parent Night, we put the first DVD in and watched the pilot again. If Chris weren’t so tired, she would have finished the whole episode, but instead fell asleep just before finding out that Sydney (Jennifer Garner) was accepted by the CIA as a double agent inside of SD-6. For right now, I only know that SD-6 has been pretending to be a covert branch of the CIA, when it is actually some sort of enemy of the USA. Now, some other interesting plot twists have happened through episode 4, so I can only imagine that this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the twists and turns go. I’ve been purposely avoiding reading about later episodes, because I plan on borrowing Jamie’s copy of Season Two when I finish the first season.

Hopefully I’ll be able to finish this first season, unlike my failed attempt at even getting halfway through 24’s first season DVD. So far, though, Alias is proving to be quite an entertaining little show, despite some of the story flaws, which I may post about at a later date (I’m sure you can do your own Google search on “alias nitpicking” and filter through the many results).
