No, I’m still here, and I’m alive. I’ve just been so busy with teacher the Harper class, working overtime at the school, and general business, that I haven’t had the time to post anything. And rather than post small tidbits here and there that don’t make any sense, I’ve just held off from posting entirely.
Actually, the last paragraph was from April 2nd. This paragraph is being writtin tonight, the 6th. That’s just how busy I am. I started writing the first paragraph in the morning when I got to work, but I was quickly pulled away from my desk to do who knows what. It’s probably for the better, though, as I am finding myself having more and more tasks away from my desk. I’ve been helping Bob take up the slack left behind by Adam’s departure, working on our new inventory system, and maintaining the website. I’ve actually been a little lax on the website lately because of all the stuff elsewhere that I have helped to take care of. Fortunately, I was so anally retentive maintaining the site before, that my little bit of relaxation of enforcement hasn’t reflected poorly on the site.
In other news, I just finished a draft of my resume which I will be submitting to my two bosses when I get interviewed for the now open Network Technician position. I’ve been preparing myself for this opening since last spring when Adam first started his EMT classes. I’ve learned to create and maintain images, blast them using Symantec Ghost, and some Novell administration and more computer networking. I feel prepared to take on the responsibilities of the NT position.
The question is whether I am more prepared and qualified than the other applicants. It’s going to be a tough choice between Randy, Bob, and I, if the position is filled from within the department. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. But whatever does happen, I know that the three of us are above the pettiness of backstabbing and other underhanded techniques of clawing our way to the top, and we’d be fine if we found ourselves as one of the two who did not get chosen for the position.
To better prepare myself, though, I have been checking up on some Novell stuff, as well as looking at the Network+ exam prep book I have. There’s nothing wrong with too much knowledge. And my bachelors can only help me in presenting myself as one of the best qualified persons to fill the position. Wish me luck. For now, I’m off to bed after 15 minutes of DDR, so that I can clear my head of everything for even just five minutes.
