Pick and drop

Researchers at Sony Interaction Laboratory have developed a cool technology dubbed "pick and drop," a play on the "drag and drop" method of copying information most computer users are now familiar with. The technology is showcased here. With a digital pen, a user can "pick up" data on a device, like a PDA, and "drop" it on another device, like a laptop or a dashboard. The data is copied from its source to its destination when dropped. Some of the uses given as examples are to transfer contact info between acquaintances, to share music between friends, and to share a file with the audience of a lecture (the file is dropped on a dashboard by the lecturer). All in all, very neato stuff.
