Monthly Archive for August, 2004

Closing forum

So, it’s been more than a couple of months since anyone has posted to the forum. Before that, it was almost another month. With the visits to the forum dwindling, I think I may close the forum entirely. The alternative is porting over my old Yahoo!Group MarkOmni to the forum and hope that entices people to read the beginnings of my rants on the internet. Let me know what you think I should do. Perhaps I will even make a poll on the forum.

Xanga’s RSS feeds

Christina Crumlish’s post Does Xanga offer RSS? @ Radio Free Blogistan was the first link when I Googled rss xanga. Now I can get updates of my sister’s Xanga blog without having to actually try to read her blog.

Pictures are in

During a much needed nap yesterday, Chris left the house to pick up our wedding photos from Len, our photographer. There are almost 300 photos in the three-inch binder filled with 3×5 card holders and hole-punched paper inserts awaiting orders from friends and family. So, just be aware that there may be a large white binder floating around us for the next few weeks. Any orders placed by October 1st should be available just in time for Christmas. Any orders placed after that may not be available until mid-January.

Another successful wedding

Saturday, August 14, 2004, was the date of Bob Zelinske’s marriage to Amaris Chrispell. The ceremony was beautifully set in the Long Grove Community Church, and the reception was held at Mandile’s Ristorante. I was a groomsman this time around, marking three the number of weddings in which I have participated. I must say that I was much more nervous about today that my own wedding, knowing that if I messed something up, I could ruin someone else’s once-in-a-lifetime day. At my own wedding, if I screwed up, chances were I’d be the only one to know. I am also currently missing out on some probably hectically fun times at Alumni Club, where most of the bridal party are participating in some after-party partying. I’m sure Erin, Kelly, Jenny, Justin and Nolan (along with whomever joined them) are having a blast right now. Unfortunately, I just can’t do those things any more. Hell, last night, my last shot at Lamplighter’s was a shot of water. That’s right, plain old H2O. But that probably made me much less crankier today than I could have been, as I was fairly pleasant today, if I do say so myself :-) So, it was a wonderful day, and I am honored to have been a part of it. This post’s for you, Bob and Amaris, best wishes to you both.

A few mumbles

So, I was told by a few people that our use of the internet while on our honeymoon was [strange | weird | not right | wrong]. And then the other day, Grant said it was great. I knew I could count on someone to back me up on my honeymoon internet idea :-) And I’ve installed Windows XP SP2, since the automated updates downloaded it from Microsoft’s web servers. I figured, eh, why not? At least I can do some independent testing of SP2 and report back any interesting finds to work, since I haven’t heard of anyone testing it at work. I also haven’t re-installed SP2 on my workstation at work since migrating over to the new MPC Clientpro tower, with a 3GHz Hyperthreading Pentium4 supported by 1GB of Dual Channel DDR800 RAM. So, we’ll see how it goes.

No X-Box

So, I opted to not buy an X-Box today. I decided that it was quite an investment for my current wants and needs, since I would need to purchase the X-Box, a subscription to X-Box Live, a set of AV cables with S-Video and an S-Video switch. That would have put me well over $250.

Instead, I bought Rainbow Six 3 Gold Edition for PC. Since finishing Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy, I’ve had this need to play the video games by the same name. So, now I will, but not too much. I should play husband, too.

We’re back

So, we’re back in the States now, and it’s kind of weird. We came back to what appears to be a new house, thanks to our friends and family taking such good care of it, cleaning, painting, etc. while we were gone. Scott even stained our new coffee table that I picked up from work the last week of school! I’m not quite as jet lagged as I thought I might be, but I suppose that’s partly due to my forcing myself to stay awake during most of the 8-hour flight from Frankfurt to O’Hare. We got in around 7pm local last night, which was around 2am in Venice, our last port of call. I went to bed around 11 last night, and woke up once at 5:30 this morning, and then again around 9, if I recall what Chris said when I asked her what time it was. We’re Chris has started the unpacking, while I’ve sorted through my mail (both snail and electronic), reading a few tech and automotive articles this morning (the most notable being Motor Trend’s article on the new 2005 Corvette). At some point we are having our friends and family over to share some of the souvenirs we bought overseas. I guess it’s time for me to go help Chris unpack.
