My virtual model

virtual me from mvm.com

I was not doing some work for a while, finding myself visiting blogs of total strangers who were linked from the blog of another stranger, etc. One blog had a link to My Virtual Model, where you can construct a virtual model of yourself. This virtual model can be used at several online retailers to help you visualize how you would look wearing the various wares. Sears and Land’s End seem to be the big two retailers for men. So, what do you think?

I just finished playing around at Sears with their virtual model tools, and wouldn’t you believe that, while the store appears to have plenty for you to put on your virtual model, when you try to purchase something, they’re fresh out of everything. That pisses me off. I put together a nice ensemble of what seemed like decent stuff for quite cheap (a white oxford, a red wool sweater, and some black pants - I believe all for under $50!), and none of the things are available or could be found by the online engine. What a bunch of krunk! I’ll have to remember to try it again later.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

While I’m not a reader of the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, I do like the movies. While building some links for other reading materials, I came across the fact that you can pre-order the new book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I recall Chris telling me that she pre-ordered the book, but I can’t seem to find the order on Amazon.com, which makes me wonder. I’ll have to ask her this week, ’cause I know she wants the book.

Anyways, if you haven’t yet pre-ordered the book, support ask-mark.com and use the link above to pre-order from Amazon.com.

Sleepy time :-)

After two consecutive late nights (I haven’t been to bed before 3:30am), I promised Chris that I would be in bed by midnight tonight. As I have just missed that deadline, I’m leaving "the project" for tonight and going to bed. I’ve got to go to work in the morning anyways, and it’s usually better for everyone if I’ve gotten at least 6 hours of sleep instead of 3.

Oh, and one random tidbit: I hear Jamie Foxx won Best Actor, and I still haven’t seen the movie :-(

Back to the "goose poop"

OK, I finally figured out how to make my old style sheet (dubbed by Bob to be the aforementioned aviary excrement) into a theme, and have made what I hope are all of the necessary changes to paths and other code to have my site fully functional the way it used to be. By all means, please feel free to let me know if something’s not working quite right. I’ve checked things on Firefox 1.0 and Internet Exploder 6, both on Windows XP.

Saddam Hussein - a lost Mario Bros.?

Taking a quick break from "the project," I happened acroos My Yahoo! and saw that Sunday’s Boondock’s comic is already posted:

Boondocks 02-27-2005

Saddam looks much more like Mario than Luigi. And speaking of reminiscing about classic games, while I’ve never played Another World, it does sound like a cool game. It’s amazing what was done with 256 or fewer colors and crappy sound effects back in the day.

Quentin theme

I’ve decided for now to use the Quentin theme for the blog. While I still would like to craft a theme of my own one day, I just don’t have the time to do it right now. So, yeah, I hope you enjoy. If there are other WordPress 1.5 themes out there, please post links to them. I’d like to check them out and harvest ideas for a theme of my own.

Multiple Intelligence Inventory

While waiting for Dreamweaver to synchronize the contents of my website with a local cache of my site, I started surfing around for various WP 1.5 themes. On a site called Organic Shadows v.3 I noticed a link to a multiple intelligence inventory, similar to the many inventories or exams that I used to take in Magnet school, Gifted classes and college courses. Since it was a mere 80 questions, I decided to take it. Here are my results:

LinguisticLinguistic=3737
MathematicsMathematics=4747
Visual/SpatialVisual/Spatial=4444
Body/KinestheticBody/Kinesthetic=3030
NaturalisticNaturalistic=3737
MusicMusic=3737
InterpersonalInterpersonal=3232
IntrapersonalIntrapersonal=3434

The results are of no real surprise to me. The reinforce what I already mostly knew about myself: I like math, science, logic, classification and visuals. It also showed that while I’m not quite as horrible as I used to be at interpersonal relationships, I’m still more introverted. I’m also a little on the static side, physically. There appears to be a wealth of other information at the Learning Disabilities Resource Community, which I will be sure to check out later. Oh, how I wander to the strangest places on the internet.
