A Brazilian mayor has proposed a ban on death. Cemeteries ran out of space last month, leaving the town of Biritiba Mirim no choice but to force sharing of crypts and burying the dead under walkways. Brazil’s National Environment Council forbids the creation of new cemeteries and the cremation of the dead. Mayor Roberto Pereira da Silva has proposed banning death with hopes that his proposed legislation will allow for exceptions to the national laws.
