Panoramic views

I found more panoramic photos of great sites around the world, just like the panoramics of Paris I previously posted. Arounder currently has fifteen cities, as well as twenty-two special projects, with more of each coming soon. Having been to the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and Firenza, I can tell you that these panoramics are amazing. It is seriously almost like the real thing, all from the comfort of your office chair.

Who’s coming with us on our next trip?

Neat eye tricks

The eye can do mysterious things. Check out your eye’s blind spot. The brain just adds information to the spot in your field of vision that doesn’t receive any data. It’s pretty weird.

No perspective

Between full and empty

OK, I lied. I have one more cool thing to post. Notes on the Denial of Perspective is a page that demonstrates paintings of seemingly random lines and colors that, when viewed from a certain point in space, form an image. The paintings are by Felice Varini. I would imagine that seeing some of these paintings in real life could totally throw your mind. It’s pretty cool :-)

Bembo’s zoo

My late night find is Bembo’s zoo, a flash animation made up completely of typography. After the intro, you are presented with the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. When you click on each letter, an animal that begins with that letter is created using the letters in the animal’s name. It’s a neat little flash animation, and it can be a good addition to the See ‘n Say!

Chomsky on AlterNet

I don’t know much about Noam Chomsky, other than he’s a political theorist at MIT, but there is an interview with him on AlterNet. There are some interesting points that Chomsky makes about the "War on Terror."

My Eurotrip

While watching some video at Google, I decided on at least one thing I would like to do during a future visit to Europe: tour race tracks.

The promotional video below was taken from BMW Motorsport’s Ring Taxi website. When you ride in the Ring Taxi, you sit in the passenger seat of a BMW M5 as it speeds around the North Loop of the Nürburgring. For those of you not in the know, the Nürburgring is one of the world’s most famous race tracks, offering quite a variety of turns, straights and altitude changes to challenge even the best drivers. I know I don’t have the skill or experience to drive the ring, but I would love to experience it. Something like the Ring Taxi would be an awesome way to do it.

Cochlear implants

digg has a post that demonstrates how the world sounds to people with cochear implants. It is interesting to note the differences in quality by just adding a few more electrodes to an implant. I started getting paranoid about losing my hearing a few years ago, and I’m definitely going to continue paying attention to my exposure to loud sounds. That means fewer ear-splitting concerts, and probably not putting the pounding sound system into my car :-(
