Last night Chris and I went to Second City Chicago’s Mainstage with Mike, Vicki and a few others to see Iraqtile Dysfunction. I hadn’t heard anything about the show before, but Chris said she’d only heard good things about it. I think this was my second Second City show, and it was hilarious!
The small cast of six put on a great show. I haven’t really seen any improv or sketch comedy since the siblings graduated from CHS, and I really enjoyed it. I think my favorite part of the show was when Brian Gallivan came out with a gay Puerto Rican accent, playing a customs agent. He interrogated an audience member for about five or ten minutes, and then he and the rest of the cast did a reenactment of of a day in the life of Mrs. LeBrun, a 911 dispatcher. I was almost crying, it was so funny.
The show is definitely not a kids show, partly because of the language (listen to me sounding all grown up and stuff…), and partly because I don’t think very many kids pay enough attention to what’s going on in the world to appreciate some of the humor (at least I didn’t when I was a kid). If you’re looking for something to do at night, check out the Second City Mainstage because it’s just that funny.
