Yesterday Chris and I finished the adoption process for Dixie. When we brought her to PetSmart, she was a bit excited. So, we kept her outside of the store to minimize any disobedience. For the most part, Dixie was all bark and no bite. She even shared a few toys with another dog who was waiting to be adopted.
After signing the papers and getting some dog food, we brought Dixie over to see Cosmo and Cooper. Cooper and Dixie got along just fine, again. They played with each other and chased each other around the yard. I think it was good for her to get that exercise.
When Cosmo came out, he and Dixie got along better than before. There were a few spats involving one of Dixie’s toys when both Cosmo and Dixie went after it at the same time. Dixie’s collar broke after she tried to get between Cosmo and Cooper when they were playing with each other. Overall, it was a good day for the dogs. I’ll have photos posted soon.
Update: I have posted an updated Flickr photoset collecting photos of Dixie’s first month with us.

So, who would like to go to Medieval Times on Friday? As Al put it, "That’d be more accessible." Post a comment or send out an e-mail to the group. I’d do it myself, but I don’t have my address book right now.
Update: We decided to order Chinese take out on Friday. We did not order just any takeout, of course, but Yu’s. It was good stuff. Checkout Vicki’s Flickr of the evening. Later on, some of the group went to play hide and seek. Chris and I passed on it, both being exhausted from the day.

For whatever reason, I’ve had numerous Debbie Macomber books show up in my Amazon.com Gold Box. I have no idea who she is, nor why her books are being recommended to me. I just thought I’d share that.

These kids have way too much time on their hands. They put together a dorm automation system during their freshman year at MIT! The system includes security cameras, laser light shows, LCD and LED displays and a PARTY button that instantly transforms the room into a rave environment. I’m a bit envious, and a bit, “Serioulsy? WTF!?”

I finally got my Linux server at home to share files using Samba again. After having installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake, I was able to get Squid working without a problem, but Samba just wouldn’t let me connect. After pouring over the Ubuntu dapper wiki, I finally got it! I had the wrong authentication settings. Once I used encrypted passwords and a user map, I was able to connect to my server. Now I’ll be able to keep my desktop synchronized properly. w00t!

We picked up Dixie from Janine, her foster mother, yesterday at PetSmart. The first night was tiring, and we hadn’t even had her for five hours before we went to bed! Check out the photos we took on Flickr.
