Despite a near-failed attempt at making stuffed shells Monday night, I think I can make food better than the employee who was fired from Great China Buffet in New York. A customer of the restaurant snapped a photo of a restaurant employee crushing garlic…
in the alley…
with his boots!
From the article:
"I go back there, and the guy’s stepping on garlic," said Dan Barreto, who used to eat at the restaurant. "There he was just jumping up and down on it, smashing it up, having a good time."
A health department official joked about it being "a novel way to prepare food." However, the Rockland County health department does not see footwear as a proper instrument for the preparation of food.
I didn’t take any photos of the stuffed shells, but they did look good. Unfortunately, their appearance did not translate perfectly to their taste. I’ll have to try making it again sometime, and I’ll post photos then. I promise.
I’m sure you’re a dandy cook, but the combined news note with the personal note leaves me with this image of you stomping on pasta in you guys’ kitchen… :p
No stomping on pasta that night, although I wanted to after I tasted it. The red sauce and the spinach and cheese stuffing tasted pretty good, but the shells may have been undercooked. I used Sara Moulton’s recipe. My shells weren’t big enough, and I forgot to thaw and drain the spinach before mixing some of it with the cheese. I pulled out the frozen spinach from the cheese, along with more from the bag, and thawed it in the microwave.
Your shells aren’t big enough? Sounds like you need to switch to C-cups instead. I recently made the switch, and have never looked back.
Anybody feel like chinese tonight. With extra foot.
