Student tasered during Kerry’s UF visit

University of Florida student Andrew Meyer was pulled away from a microphone as he questioned John Kerry during his visit to UF Monday. Meyer was then brought to the back of the auditorium, pinned to the floor. UF police officered warned Meyer that continued resistance would result in being tasered. Shortly after receiving the verbal warnings, you can hear Meyer screaming, as well as the tell-tale popping noises that a taser makes.

The videos I have seen of the incident show Meyer resisting arrest initially, but it is unclear whether he was physically resisting after he was pinned to the ground. The videos also do not show visual evidence of a stun gun being put to Meyer’s body, but there is definite audible evidence to the fact.

CNN reports that two of the UF officers have been put on paid leave because of the incident. The Florida Division of Law Enforcement is investigating the arrest.

Here is video that offers a close view of the officers pinning Meyer to the ground:

Video obtained by MSNBC shows the incident from another angle, along with some commentary from Tucker Carlson. You can view the video on your own, mostly because I’m not a fan of Tucker’s, but also because I already have another video above.

From what I have seen, Meyer was being confrontational in his questioning. However, it appears as though the UF police officers let the excitement get the better of their judgment when they tasered Meyer. It was apparent that Meyer posed no physical threat to the officers, especially while pinned down by multiple officers. It was almost as if they tasered him just to shut him up. What they got was the opposite of that.
