It finally happened. After jury rigging my kick pedal last weekend with a couple pieces of cardboard and some tape, the kick pedal came apart on me today as I sat down to play drums. I was pressing down on the pedal, and then I noticed that the pedal did not rebound back to its neutral position. I checked, and sure enough, the crack in the pedal finally reached all the way across the pedal and the pedal is now two pieces.
I quickly jumped onto the EA support site, and I am now awaiting for a replacement kick pedal. I’m supposed to get it some time next week. I hope that’s an accurate estimate on their part, because I’m finding I am not as good at guitar as I used to be, and I am terrible at singing.
I saw this post on rachelleb.com about a Flickr meme. It’s simple to do: use your answers to each of the following questions as searches in Flickr. For each search, pick one image from only the first page of results. Paste the URL to the Flickr photo page for that image into Mosaic Maker. Produce a 3×4 mosaic of your photo picks, and publish it somewhere. Enjoy!
This past weekend, Sen. James Meeks (D-Chicago), a pastor at Salem Baptist Church on Chicago’s South Side, brought more attention school funding in Illinois. Meeks’ has called on Chicago parents to boycott the Chicago Public Schools, keeping children out of school until the funding issues are resolved. To make things worse, nearly 50 other Chicago ministers yesterday announced their support for Meeks’ boycott.
I heard about this on the radio this morning, but I completely forgot about it on my walk from the car into the office. Thanks to Clint for reminding me.
I am sitting here at Bavaria Hof listening to Amazing Mike jamming on a dozen or so instruments. He just played a long riff on the guitar, with the guitar behind his head!
I am also attempting to sober up from the one bottle of Stella I had with dinner. After last night, I just had a taste for beer, and I’ve never had Stella before. It’s pretty good. Now that I have ordered dessert, I should be doing better.
Well, I have been typing away for a few minutes now. Time to put the Blackberry away.
Earlier, Chris and I tried to go to dinner with the in-laws at Bavaria Hof in Schaumburg. It’s one of Peter’s favorite restaurants, and he’s leaving for Uganda on Monday morning for a 2+ year stint with the Peace Corps. Unfortunately, Chris and I had to turn around and go home before ever reaching the restaurant.
“Why turn around?”, you may be wondering. The Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove is blocking all north-south traffic on Roselle Road, one of Schaumburg’s four major north-south roadways. You see, the bikers are preventing anyone from crossing Weathersfield Way because of their race.
Now, we have to wait them out before heading to dinner. Sometimes I wish the suburbs stayed a driving town.
