I shit you not! A 9-year-old girl went to the hospital in Greece with stomach pains. Doctors found a growth next to her stomach. Inside the 6-centimeter growth, doctors found a head, hair and eyes, but no brain. The growth contained the girl’s embryonic twin!

Taking the leap

Thank you, Mr. Bush, for the stimulus check. I am doing my part to help stimulate the economy. I have finally taken the leap and just ordered an Xbox 360 Elite from Amazon.com. I also ordered Rock Band Special Edition so that family and friends could rock out at Pete’s graduation party on Saturday. I may need to borrow a second guitar *cough* Michael *cough* if I don’t decide to just go buy one Friday afternoon.

To round out my major purchase, I also bought a second wireless controller and an S-Video cable (which will keep me content until next year’s HDTV purchase - Chris, you have been warned). I haven’t dropped the cash on GTA4 just yet, as I am still playing Guitar Hero III and Mario Kart Wii.

Since I won’t be going into work until the afternoon tomorrow, I think I’ll look at the wiring situation by the TV. I know I’ve got to clean things up a bit before everything arrives. I didn’t get the wireless adapter for the Xbox 360, but I already have a network cable just sitting by the TV for either the laptop or PS2. That should work just fine for the time being.

Well, it’s off to bed for me now, assuming I can contain myself enough to sleep.

Zed451 is a feast

Last night Chris and I went out to an early Mother’s Day dinner with my mom and Michelle. After some discussion this afternoon, we had decided on Zed451 in Schaumburg. It turned out to be a very good decision.

The first bit of goodness came when I reserved a table using OpenTable.com. Normally, reservations are just 100 points each; however, with the relative newness of Zed451, the reservation was 1,000 points. This reservation pushed me over the 2,000 point mark, the lowest number of points required to get a gift cheque from OpenTable.com.

Mario Kart Wii

When I got home today, not only did I find a fresh set of Yokohama tires for Chris’s car, but I also found a box from Amazon. That could only mean that I now have Mario Kart Wii! I have only been playing it for about 90 minutes, but it is loads of fun.

Florida is on my Stupid List

The Florida Senate recently passed SB 2692 with a vote of 21-17. One Democrat voted for the bill, while five Republicans voted against it. SB 2692 is yet another proposed piece of legislation favoring teaching creationism and intelligent design as science (what I will call CIDS). A similar bill is in the Florida House, but a bill must pass both the House and Senate with identical language before it can go before Gov. Charlie Crist (I’m hoping it’s pronounced with a short ‘i’ and not a long ‘i’).

I’m not going to pretend that I understand Florida, because I don’t. However, I also would not have pegged the home of NASA as being a state in support of CIDS. I can only hope that the bills do not pass the Florida legislature. I could not agree more with Florida’s Senate Democratic Leader when he says, "In 2008, it is embarrassing for us to be debating evolution." When will this idiocy stop?

31-cent scoops

My mother-in-law told me about this. Next week on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Baskin-Robbins will be selling 31¢ scoops. There are a few catches to the deal. The scoops are smaller than normal at 2.5 ounces (I think normal scoops are 4 ounces), and there is a 10-scoop limit per person, per purchase. That’s more than ¾-quarts of ice cream! Baskin-Robbins will then donate $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Go get yourself some cheap ice cream next week. Oh, and I guess you’ll be helping out a charity.

A little spring cleaning

Perhaps with the thought of putting off a few things that I have to do, I decided to rearrange a few things around the house. I moved around the garbage cans, some of the Christmas boxes and a few other things. I also made a little more room on the side of the driveway, moving a large object that hasn’t been used for several years.
