SeeItNext.com

What is SeeItNext.com? I saw a commercial for the website when I watched American Gladiators tonight (btw, AG is a great show and it brings back so many memories). I went to the site, and it has an aerial photo of Chicago at night (the Citicorp Center, One and Two Prudential Plaza, and the AON Center give it away), as well as showing the video seen in the commercial. The commercial reveals a clue: In the general’s north chamber the future is revealed. A Google search for the phrase reveals a couple of interesting nuggets of information, including a digg item linking to an eBay auction of DVDs that includes the phrase in the description. The DVDs don’t jump out at me, but then again I have only seen the Friends season finale (when it was originally aired).

Do you have any ideas as to what this all means? The website says, "The future will be revealed on February 4th." Hopefully I’ll know what’s going on before then.

Update: Signs are leaning toward the Chicago Auto Show theories being correct. But we have just over a week left until we find out. In the meantime, here are the two videos posted by YouTube user seeitnext:

That was the first video posted on the SeeItNext.com website. Here is the second video posted on the site:

That creepy-looking kid in the photograph doesn’t really give me a clue as to what is going on, but a forum post at GMInsideNews tries to link this all to the new Chevy Traverse. I guess we still have to keep on guessing.

You just got slapped

HIMYM is one of the best comedies of the past three years. I have posted about the show’s greatness on at least a couple of occaisions, but this last episode has definitely sealed it as my favorite series of any genre of the past three years. I had all but forgotten about slapcountdown.com, which was a countdown to the third of five slaps Marshall is guaranteed to give Barney thanks to a slap bet (the link now forwards to the HIMYM YouTube page). If you’ve seen the last episode, the countdown ended in a spectacular slap on Slapsgiving.

The end of the episode featured Marshall’s song "You Just Got Slapped." Here is the music video for the song, which is just about as funny as the song itself:

The one thing I did notice about the music video is the lack of Barney’s wailing accompaniment. You’ll have to watch the episode to know what I mean.

Chuck’s new girl: a follow up

This post may or may not contain spoilers, and it is a follow up to my previous post titled Chuck’s new girl. You should probably read it only after watching this week’s episode of Chuck (now available online for a limited time).

Chuck’s new girl

I just got a chance to see Monday’s episode of Chuck, and the show is really developing. Just when I thought that the show couldn’t get much more entertaining, Rachel Bilson gets tossed into the mix as Lou, a sandwich shop owner who came to Chuck to get her phone fixed. It appears as though Bilson’s Lou could be a mid-season replacement for C.S. Lee’s Harry Tang (I love that name), the overly bossy Buy More assistant manager.

The Big Bang Theory

CBS’s The Big Bang Theory is hilarious! I’m sitting at home waiting for a furniture technician to come to the house to look our broken arm chair, and I’m trying to catch up on some of that saved TV while I check e-mails and tap into the VPN connection at work. BBT looks like another great production from Chuck Lorre (check out the vanity cards).

As I sit here with Dixie watching the second episode, I find myself in hysterics laughing at the plethora of nerd and social humor. Leonard, the alpha of the nerdy foursome of physicists, lives next door to Penny, a cute blond from Nebraska who now works at The Cheesecake Factory. The first two episodes are filled with nerdy laughs, like a ‘42′ baseball cap, a light saber and comedic references to science. Much like HIMYM, the show reminds me of my social circle, and I am left feeling like I could jump right into the television and join in on the fun.

This is definitely a show to watch.

TV on the computer

As I continue to watch the recent season and series premiers, I thought I would post about how you can use your computer as a DVR of sorts, or as a supplement to your TiVo or cable or satellite dish DVR. I saw a CNET article about the free media player called Miro. In addition to being a media player, this open source project has support of RSS and BitTorrent.

By supporting both RSS and BitTorrent, Miro allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds of your favorite TV shows and automatically download the shows to your computer after they air. It is like having a free season pass for a TV show without the cost associated with the iTunes Music Store. Read the CNET article for details on how to get Miro and set it up to download your favorite shows. Of course, this is for educational purposes only.

You should also get educated about Phoenix Labs’ Peer Guardian 2. It will block communications to and from media companies, advertising companies, government and other unwanted network resources. It has several built-in block lists, but you can modify or remove those lists, as well as adding other block lists. Peer Guardian does not allow you to break the law, but it does help prevent your personal information from being collected by those you do not trust.

Chuck

Yesterday marked the first day of premier week(s). Instead of actually watching the premiers, I played a little catch up on last season. Today, however, I started watching some of the season and series premier episodes. First on my list was Chuck.
