No, Really, I Am an American

My one week ob fell on a crappy, teeth-pulling lesson. Luckily for me, Alex wasn’t overly critical. He thought I handled the situation quite well, actually. One of the students, Mitsuhiru came late, and Alex suspected he might have been drunk. The lesson was one I’d taught before on rules and when I asked Mitsuhiru about a rule of the subway, he told me, “Men don’t touch women on subway.”

I turned it around to be a little more tactful, but that was the tip off to Alex that he might have been a bit inebriated. At one point, he also got up in the middle of the roleplay.

Overall, Alex said I didn’t do too badly…but I was certainly annoyed that he had to observe a tough lesson. Isn’t that how it always happens, though?

I met with Barbara, Heather, and Natasha again this afternoon. On Monday, they had invited me to meet them for coffee and much to my apprehension, I took them up on it. I’m trying desperately hard to make friends.

It was kind of an awkward afternoon, honestly. I felt a little out of place because the people we met up with they all knew from orientation. I was kind of the odd one out, but I talked a little with Ryan and Natasha was sure to try and include me in conversation. We’ll see how long this lasts.

I guess what it really comes down to is I miss you guys. It isn’t the kind of ache that is unbearable and enough to send me home (no offense), but i definitely feel an absence.

Point of interest for Chris O — can you frickin’ believe it’s been a MONTH since I’ve update my story?! How pathetic is that? (And yes, Mike, I am aware that it’s been even longer since I posted in Lint Wars. I’m workin’ on it, I’m workin’ on it…)
