Would you like some tea?

Two Japanese ladies just came to our door, I think they were selling tea.

Usually, when it is known that the residents of this house have very little Japanese, the solicitors are wont to leave. These two ladies took it as an opportunity to chat. It was actually really cool, and the best part was that I could get the gist of what they were saying. They were encouraging of my own faulty Nihongo. I tried asking them what they were selling, but for the most part I got that they were “campaigning” for a new tea shop one stop away from Fuse (the Kintetsu Line near the house).

I was able to suss out that it was a Korean based tea and it was good for blood flow and complexion.

I think I’m gonna check it out. If anything, because I’m a bleeding heart for stuff like that. It doesn’t cost me anything to be nice. (One whole paycheck later…)

Still not fired!!

Woo! I had my contract evaluation today and it actually went really well! I was very happy about it. I thought it odd that the eval was with a group Golf lesson, as in the highest zone one can achieve in Nova, but whatever. It was rather convenient for me because I selected “Talking about education” for the lesson and I can run rings around that even if there was no language input.

It was a great class, too. Rumiko, Haru, and Yoshinori all participated well and asked me some great questions about American school systems. I was actually sad to hear the bell go. It’s times like this that keep me at this job.

I had the longest conversation with Byron that I have had ever. He’s not like Alex in regards to personality, but he is pretty laid back the way Alex was in that he doesn’t harp on me about little things. He had some really good suggestions on how to improve. He also informed me that he signed me up for lots of different training, which could mean Kids training. Still not sure how I feel about that one, but he also mentioned business training. I kinda balked at the thought, considering I know zilch about business English. I had had a lesson last week for advanced comprehension and one of the vocab words was “market gap”. The student asked me what it was and I didn’t have a blasted clue. I think I made something up (I have since learned the definition, though — yeah, totally lied to the student).

So it looks like it will be some more time with Nova. I’m in a pretty complacent place with it for the time being, so presently, I don’t mind.

Or maybe I’m saying that because I’m gonna hop on a plane next Thursday and be home soon. That could be a factor, too. ;-)

Can’t wait to see everyone — and YAY! Not fired!
