Thoughts from a Starbuck’s

Thus written in a spiral notebook

There was always something about Starbuck’s I found somewhat pretentious; or maybe the expression I’m looking for is “trendy”, and we all know how good I am with trends and the like.

Anyway, I’m sitting here at the Starbuck’s in Fuse, nursing a cafe mocha and cherry danish, lamenting about a coffee folly on my part. Before I left Japan, they had this mint mocha that was pretty spectacular yeah? I thought it was akin to a Mint Condition — I’m pretty sure I wrote about this before. I was like, “Cool. I can dig this.”

While I was in the States, they had this amazing peppermint mocha. Ya know, I thought mint alone was pretty five-by-five, but oh man, PEPPERMINT was freaking incredible! Not quite like a sex brownie, but still pretty damn tasty. My taste buds were seriously affected; and not in the “Ah! I burnt my tongue!” kind of way. So. Good.

Herein lies my folly: I kept thinking I’d get around to hitting up Starbuck’s again before I left, yeah? And other instances it was a matter of being too full and not being able to stomach much else.

And now I’ve gone and missed my chance on TWO accounts no less as the Mint Mocha was also seasonal.

To make matters “worse”, they didn’t have any cheese danishes this morning; hadda settle for a cherry. Major bummer. (It’s a thing; I’m bringing back the expression.)

How pathetic is it that I’m writing about coffee?

“I can’t believe I got sucked into Pine Valley…”

This used to be the Away Message I posted when I was watching All My Children, quite possiby the most girly thing I have ever done.

Okay. So I’m on this board, also where I post my fic, and I’m reading about what’s going on lately and alls I’s gots to say is: WHAT THE…????

My brain is like exploding. I could handle the nixing of characters to some degree, random killings and departures and the like, I could handle Maggie apparently cheating (but returning in a few days to sort things out)…but what happened today is just making me confused…more so than usual.

I wonder…am I getting sucked back into Pine Valley? This proves to be quite difficult as we don’t really get ABC in this country.

FEH. Stupid, stupid, stupid…

*mutters unintelligibly about randomly created characters and some kiss*

Sorry. I’m okay now. I think. Um, sorry. Mild-mannered, average, blog post coming soon to a wordpress near you…

SERIOUSLY! WHAT JUST HAPPENED????

Smells like Japan…and oh yeah, not dead

Keeping up with the tradition of posts made this side of the Pacific, I am again not dead. I think this makes three.

Japan has a smell. It ain’t unpleasant or anything like that, but getting from one place to the other recently, I couldn’t help but notice. Alls I can describe it as is “Japan”. It smells like Japan.

My brain’s still on overload a little, so this will be short and disjointed, much like myself in real life…sorry, what? Oh yeah, short post. Um, I got in last night at a decent hour; everything is still packed away in luggage save a few odds and ends. Jacob is packing up his Japanese life, so it makes it a little difficult. That and I have this thing about unpacking. I don’t like to do it with other people present, unless I can’t help it. Remember the part where I’m insane?

On the bright side, so far the wicked case of depression I was anticipating has not manifested. This is a definite plus. Don’t get freaked or anything, it’s just…well, it was really hard leaving this time around. I have lots of regrets when it comes to that, but I’ll explain in a more coherent post. Like the one I’ll probably write tomorrow when I’m all unpacked and what not.

But I just wanted to let y’all know I was indeed, once again, not dead. I’m pretty sure you all knew that, but y’know, gotta keep up with traditions.
