Departing Dali and Muku’s American Breakfast

Sorry I haven’t posted much as of late — today was my first day off after an eleven day week. It sounds a lot worse than it is, but it does result in some general laziness. Can’t say I’ve been up to much regardless; although, we are in cherry blossom season.

On Wednesday, I was under orders from Matt and Rob (despite the distance) to attend Dali’s Sayonara. I can’t say that I’ve spent lots of time with the lovely lady, but the few times we have hung out I’d always thought Dali was good people. Her party was at NuNew Dunk, as Club Dunk is now defunk. It was a nice setting ‘cuz it wasn’t overly crowded and I knew or at least recognized most of the folks in attendance. From what I gathered, NuNew Dunk is actually another person’s establishment that Koji manages or something or another. To be honest, I ain’t too sure about the details, but the place is also a pole dancing joint it seems. None of the dancers were performing, but it certainly seemed to add character to the place. Also, there were couches and three different TV’s for the karaoke. Matt got the bright idea to bring along his XBox 360 and persuaded Koji to let him set it up on one of the TV’s. I couldn’t help but think Jacob and Mike would have appreciated as much. I can’t say I was overly social, I was quite content to sit on the couch and just watch everyone else, but it truly was delightful to spend a night out. Jamie, Matt, and I split a cab home and it wasn’t all that expensive. Actually, the most expensive thing I bought that night was a plate of wicked tasty nachos and an over-priced cola.

This morning, I hadda wake up earlier than I would have liked ‘cuz Scottish Lou was taking Rob’s bed off my hands. So, sorry to Yoss and VoW as there is no longer a bed in my foyer to greet you when you come to visit. I was awake for more than that reason, though. Mike’s birthday is this Sunday and Anna decided to cook an All-American Breakfast, not to be confused with an All-American Slam, in honor of the event. Ya know, it’s mildly amusing in that it was an American breakfast prepared by a Canadian. In any case, it was gooooood eatin’. Anna made pancakes — plain, blueberry, and chocolate chip; Filipino-style fried rice (ok, so that part wasn’t overly American, but to Filipino-American-Canadians it kinda is); hashed browns; sausage; bacon; there were store-bought pastries; yogurt; oranges and strawberries…basically a whole mess o’ fixin’s. Heck, I even got a smoothie. We topped it off by watching old-school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Animaniacs. We even got to text Jacob a bit. It was almost like we were all together again. (Incidentally, D — I hang my head in shame. It is true. I am a cookie whore.)

Fun times for one and all.
