Rob had the day off yesterday so we decided to do take a roommate excursion. After watching the newest Harry Potter movie, I accompanied him to the Tenjin Matsuri, which is apparently one of the biggest festivals in Japan.
It was a hot day, but not so humid, which was surprising. It made walking around in the sun less annoying than usual. We inadvertently started at the opposite end of the festival and had quite the trek to the main part of the festival.
It was crowded, but again, I didn’t really mind. I didn’t really go to many festivals last year, so I thought it was great to see all the people in yukatas enjoying the good weather and the various festivities going on. I was actually really sad I couldn’t stay for the main event, which we could see them preparing for. I guess at night, they set these things on fire and send them down the river. It’s supposed to be really cool to see.
Still, it was good to go out and experience some of the things I didn’t last year. Heck, if the weather stays like this, I may even try to go to more festivals!
