and later Yoss Mike, both folk being not dead people (Although, that title woulda been pretty cool.)
Our usual Tuesday night gathering was not so much our usual Tuesday night gathering this past week. Joe’s cousin Mark had his bachelor party that night and several of the fellows had been invited for the whirley ball and White Sox game hijinx and tom foolery.
This saddened me a bit ‘cuz I dunno if you’ve noticed, but I really like hanging out with folk and despite appearances, I don’t get to see folk as often as I remember.
I thought perhaps the girls might still gather anyway. In the end, it would just be me and Toni — VoW had work, Al had dinner with Grant’s family (he did not participate in the boy hijinx and tom foolery), and Chris O had grad school (evil, evil grad school!). I thought perhaps Toni would prefer to have a night to herself, but lucky for me, she was fine with me coming over anyway.
Whee!
So in the “lost post” of Birthday Saturday: Morton Arboretum and Jimmy’s Charhouse, I would have written about Edy’s Fruitbars. I bought one after traipsing about the Morton trails and absolutely fell in love. I thought to buy another one right after finishing mine first, but was told not to waste the money and just go to Dominick’s and buy a whole box of ‘em.
I did just that on my way over to the Settlement.
When I arrived, Toni was finishing up a game of Oblivion. (I remember Rob playing that game and Kat and I falling asleep to his horse riding up the steep mountain.) I promptly put the bars of awesome in the freezer and Toni came about into the kitchen to pull out the pizza. We discussed food options earlier, and to be honest, I was pretty impressed with the fact that the pizza was ready when I walked in the door. ‘Twas brilliant timing on Toni’s part.
We sat down at the table to eat. I thought to just eat off of paper towels, but Toni is all kinds of sophisticated and classy and brought out plates.
Toni and I ended up talking about stuffs from the time I walked in the door to the the time the boys came home from their outing. That was like five whole hours! And she didn’t get bored of me or want to kick me out! I thought that was pretty shiny.
We talked about our misadventures at Morton, comic books, Wizard World, parents and the crazies parents are prone to, sculpting and woodcraft, movies and actors, the bars of awesome and how I can’t eat super sugary things and then have a Pepsi, the awesome weather we’ve been having, and stuffs in general. It was so totally cool!
Toni mentioned earlier in the evening that she figured the boys would be home around midnight. At 12:01, we heard the garage door open. We both laughed about it.
The boys related their misadventures in whirley ball and the Sox game; Yoss Mike received this wicked bruise on his stomach ‘cuz he wasn’t wearing a belt for his pants and the seatbelt decided to bite him.
Bert and Toni turned in not long after the boys returned home and so Yoss Mike took Toni’s place. We also talked about stuffs, but mostly we talked about Jack. Now, I still don’t know if Jack will be an HP or he’ll be a Mac, but we talked about the pros and cons of each.
It was a great Tuesday evening, even if it there were only two of us at a time. ![]()
